MLB: Tampa Bay 10, Chi. White Sox 2

CHICAGO, April 23 (UPI) -- Carlos Pena drove in four runs Thursday and Tampa Bay completed a long and successful road trip with a 10-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

The Rays went 9-1 on the trip, overpowering the White Sox with 11 hits and getting a solid seven innings from James Shields (2-0). Tampa Bay, winners of 12 of its 16 games this season, will open a nine-game homestand against Toronto on Friday.

Pena batted twice with the bases loaded and came through both times. He drew a walk in the third inning to force in Tampa Bay's first run, after which Pat Burrell delivered a two-run single that gave the Rays a 3-2 lead.

In the eighth inning, with Tampa Bay holding a 7-2 lead, Pena doubled with the bases loaded and drove in all three runners.

Shields gave up two runs on six hits. Jake Peavy (0-1) was touched for seven runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. Peavy, the 2007 National League Cy Young Award winner, also walked seven.
