
NEW YORK, April 23 (UPI) -- Ike Davis hit his first homer in the majors and Hisanori Takahashi won his first game Friday in a 5-2 decision for the New York Mets over Atlanta.
Davis has played five games in the big leagues and the Mets have won four of them. He is batting .389 in his brief career.
New York starter John Maine had to leave the game with an elbow injury after giving up a run on four hits in 3 2/3 innings. Takahashi (1-1) came in to throw 2 2/3 innings of relief, allowing a run on two hits with seven strikeouts.
Francisco Rodriguez worked the ninth and earned his second save despite putting two runners on base.
Kenshin Kawakami (0-3) gave up three runs on six hits in six innings to take the loss.
Davis hit his homer in the fifth inning to forge a 1-1 tie and David Wright added two RBI -- one of them on a sacrifice fly in the sixth and another on a seventh-inning single.
