Fraser leads South Korean golf tournament

JEJU CITY, South Korea, April 22 (UPI) -- Marcus Fraser's bogey-free, 7-under-par 65 Thursday was worth a lead after the first day of the European Tour's Ballantine's Championship in South Korea.

Fraser, in the second group off Thursday, was among golfers able to complete their first rounds after play was suspended for more than 6 hours because of heavy fog and called off for the day because of darkness with most of the field on the course.

Tournament defending champion Thongchai Jaidee, for example, only played one hole Thursday before play was stopped.

Mark Forster, who played in Fraser's group, was in second place at 6-under 66 after a round that featured an eagle, six birdies and two bogeys. Ted Oh, Rick Kulacz and Jamie Donaldson are all at 5-under but, while Oh completed his round, Kulacz still has No. 18 to play and Donaldson only completed 16 holes.

Ernie Els and Anthony Kim are among eight golfers at 4 under par.

Fraser twice posted strings of three consecutive birdies, jumping into the lead with birdies on Nos. 2-4 and pushing further ahead with birdies at 8-10. He also birdied No. 13.
