Flames' Langkow out indefinitely

CALGARY, Alberta, March 22 (UPI) -- Calgary Flames forward Daymond Langkow will be out indefinitely after being hit in the neck with a puck, team officials said Monday.

Langkow was taken off the ice on a stretcher Sunday after a bizarre incident in which he was struck by a puck fired by teammate Ian White during a game in St. Paul, Minn., against the Minnesota Wild.

The incident happened a little less than 5 1/2 minutes into the second period. After being hit in the back by Wild defenseman Greg Zanon, Langkow fell forward head first, and while falling he was struck full force by White's slapshot.

Langkow lay motionless on the ice for several minutes. He was taken to a hospital where it was reported he had regained motion in all his extremities after experiencing numbness in his legs.

He returned to Calgary Monday for further evaluation.
