The lone goal against Rask came from Jeff Carter on the power play 44 seconds deep in the second period. That created a 1-1 tie, but Mark Recchi put Boston in front for good with a wrist shot 4 minutes later.

Michael Leighton allowed four goals on 25 shots in 31 minutes, ad then gave way to Brian Boucher.

The teams split their four meetings this season. Boston improved to 2-1-1 on a seven-game road trip.
