OXFORD, Miss., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Chris Warren scored 17 points Wednesday and No. 24 Mississippi turned up the defensive heat to defeat South Carolina 66-57.
The Rebels built a 15-point halftime lead and easily held off the Gamecocks, who made just 18-of-56 shots from the field.

Murphy Holloway contributed 14 points and 12 rebounds for Mississippi (14-4, 2-2 Southeastern Conference). The Rebels were coming off a two-point, overtime loss to No. 8 Tennessee Saturday.
South Carolina (11-7, 2-2) got 25 points from Devan Downey.
