NHL: Atlanta 4, Toronto 3

ATLANTA, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Rich Peverley and Ilya Kovalchuk scored in the third period Tuesday to pace the Atlanta Thrashers to a 4-3 win over Toronto.

Peverley's power play tally with Toronto's Tomas Kaberle in the box gave Atlanta a lead it wouldn't relinquish at 3-2, and Kovalchuk's second goal of the game less than three minutes later iced it for the Thrashers.

Evander Kane also scored for Atlanta while Ondrej Pavelec made 37 saves in the win.

The Leafs got two goals from Alexei Ponikarovsky scored two goals 32 seconds apart in the first period, Niklas Hagman's late goal pulled Toronto to within 4-3.
