COL BKB: Kentucky 72, Auburn 67

AUBURN, Ala., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- DeMarcus Cousins' 16 points and 11 rebounds led a balanced Kentucky attack Saturday in the No. 2 Wildcats' 72-67 SEC win at Auburn.

John Wall and Eric Bledsoe added 13 points each and Patrick Patterson had 12 points as the Wildcats (18-0, 3-0 SEC) extended the program's best start since 1966. Cousins and Wall scored the game's final eight points.

Kentucky committed 16 turnovers but shot 51.2 percent from the field.

DeWayne Reed led the Tigers (9-9, 0-3) with a game-high 19 points and six assists. Frankie Sullivan scored 15 points, and Lucas Hargrove 10 as the Tigers couldn't quite overcome a 29 percent shooting performance in the first half.

After trailing by 13 at halftime, the Tigers pulled into a 60-60 tie with 8 1/2 minutes remaining. But a layup by DeAndre Liggins and a basket and two free throws by Cousins gave Kentucky a six-point lead with 2:51 remaining and the Wildcats fended off the Tigers from there.
