NBA: Cleveland 121, Washington 98

CLEVELAND, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- LeBron James had 23 points, eight assists and seven rebounds Wednesday, vaulting the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 121-98 whipping of Washington.

The Wizards became an easy victim on the same day the team lost guard Gilbert Arenas indefinitely to a suspension imposed by NBA Commissioner David Stern.

Cleveland won for the eighth time in nine games, recovering from a home loss to Charlotte Sunday. Shaquille O'Neal added 17 points and Anthony Parker had 16, contributing to the largest point total for the Cavaliers this season.

Washington was led by Antawn Jamison with 26.

Arenas has been suspended because of an ongoing investigation into his admission that he brought a firearm into the team's locker room.

Stern said Wednesday Arenas "is not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game."

Cleveland took a 65-43 lead at the half and the Wizards came no closer than 11 during the final two periods.
