NBA: Denver 105, Utah 95

SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Ty Lawson scored 23 points to lead Denver, which played Saturday without Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups, to a 105-95 win over the Utah Jazz.

Lawson was 9-of-14 from the field and also had nine assists in Denver's first road victory in their last six tries.

Nene had 22 points for Denver and J.R. Smith scored 18. Anthony sat out the game with a knee injury while Billups nursed a hamstring.

Carlos Boozer had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Utah. The Jazz were handicapped by 26 turnovers that led to 33 Denver points.

The Nuggets took advantage of a string of Utah miscues in the third quarter to break open what had been a tight contest.

Denver built up a 63-54 lead with 7:41 to play in the third and led by 10 heading into the final quarter. Anthony Carter scored on a layup to cap a 6-0 Denver run that extended their lead to 92-77.
