NHL: Tampa Bay 4, New York Islanders 0

TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Mike Smith stopped 30 shots Saturday to lead Tampa Bay to a 4-0 win over the visiting New York Islanders.

Ryan Malone staked Smith and the Lighting to a 1-0 lead just 1:35 into the game and Steve Downie, Jeff Halpern and Victor Hedman added to the total.

Hedman, the second overall selection in the 2009 Entry Draft, scored his first NHL goal at 10:31 of the third period.

Dwayne Roloson had 21 saves on 25 shots for the Islanders, who lost for the fifth time in their last eight games.
