NBA: Boston 90, San Antonio 83

SAN ANTONIO, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Kevin Garnett scored 20 points Thursday and Boston held off a fourth-quarter comeback bid to defeat San Antonio 90-83.

Both teams came into the contest riding five-game winning streaks.

Boston opened the final period with an 11-point lead, but the Spurs trimmed the deficit to four with less than a minute remaining.

San Antonio had a chance to get even closer, but Tony Parker turned the ball over with 26 seconds to go and the Celtics then put the game away at the free throw line.

Ray Allen added 15 points for the Celtics, Rasheed Wallace had 13 and Rajon Rondo 12. Boston improved to 8-1 on the road.

San Antonio was led by a career-high 18 points from DeJuan Blair. Tim Duncan had 16 points and 15 rebounds.
