The shootout was tied when Parenteau took the puck for the winning score after the two sides traded goals by Ottawa's Ales Kotalik and New York's Daniel Alfredsson. Milan Michale missed on his attempt after Parenteau scored.

Henrik Lundqvist had 35 save for the visiting Rangers, who snapped a two-game losing streak.

"I could feel it the whole game that Elliott wasn't going to give up too many goals tonight so I had to be sharp," Lundqvist said. "It was a fun game to play, a lot of action."

Brian Lee scored the only goal for the Senators at 4:29 of the second period, followed at 10:58 by Vinny Prospal's tying tally.
