
EDMONTON, Alberta, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Edmonton goalie Nikolai Khabibulin won his 300th career game Tuesday in the Oilers' 5-4 shootout victory over Dallas.
Khabibulin made 30 saves in regulation and overtime and rejected three Dallas tries in the shootout.
Ales Hemsky scored the winner in the shootout after Denis Grebeshkov sent the game into overtime with a goal at 6:52 of the third period to tie the score 4-4.
Dustin Penner, Sam Gagner and Mike Comrie also scored for the Oilers.
Brenden Morrow scored twice for Dallas and the Stars got goals from James Neal and Stephane Robidas. Marty Turco turned in 20 saves.
The game pitted two veteran coaches in search of their first wins against one another. Pat Quinn won his first game at the helm of the Oilers. Marc Crawford is still looking for his first victory with Dallas.
