
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Denard Span had four hits and a career-high six RBI Saturday, leading Minnesota's 11-6 win over Kansas City, its fifth straight.
Span's biggest hit, a three-run triple, gave Minnesota a 5-2 lead with two outs in the top of the fourth.
He also hit a two-run sixth-inning single and an RBI single in the eighth.
Joe Mauer had two hits and two RBI.
Brendan Harris had two hits and one RBI.
A run scored on Yuniesky Betancourt's fourth-inning throwing error.
Orlando Cabrera hit an RBI single, while Matt Tolbert added three hits for the Twins, who remained two games back of AL Central-leading Detroit.
The winner was starter Scott Baker (14-9).
Kansas City's Alberto Callaspo had two hits, including a solo homer, and two RBI.
Brayan Pena had two hits -- one a solo homer -- and three others had one RBI for the Royals, who have lost four in a row.
The losing pitcher was Lenny DiNardo (0-2).
