NFL: Minnesota 34, Cleveland 20

CLEVELAND, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Adrian Peterson ran for three touchdowns and Brett Favre threw a scoring pass Sunday for Minnesota, which throttled the Cleveland Browns 34-20.

Peterson accumulated 180 yards, scoring on 1-yard runs in the second and third quarters and a 64-yarder in the fourth.

Longtime NFL star Favre connected with Percy Harvin on a 6-yard scoring pass, finishing with 14 completions in 21 attempts for 110 yards in his debut with the Vikings (1-0).

Brady Quinn was 21-for-35 for 205 yards and a touchdown for the Browns (0-1).

Josh Cribbs got another Cleveland touchdown on a 67-yard punt return.
