CLEVELAND, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Tommy Hunter took a shutout into the eighth inning Wednesday, and Josh Hamilton had three hits and two RBI to lead Texas past Cleveland 5-0.
It was the second shutout in three games for the Texas pitching staff.
Hunter (5-2) allowed six hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter in 7 2/3 innings. After giving up a two-out single to Grady Sizemore in the eighth, Hunter was replaced by C.J. Wilson.
Wilson finished the game by retiring all four men he faced, striking out three of them.
Texas remained five games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Angels in the American League West after the Angels completed a sweep of Tampa Bay earlier in the day.
Hamilton doubled home two runs in the third and then scored one of three Texas runs in the eighth on a perfectly executed squeeze bunt by Omar Vizauel.
Fausto Carmona (2-7) took the loss, giving up two runs on five hits in six innings.
