BALTIMORE, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Mark Ellis was 5-for-5 with four RBI and Gio Gonzalez pitched six-plus shutout innings Monday in the Oakland Athletics' 9-1 victory over Baltimore.

Ryan Sweeney and Kurt Suzuki each had two hits and two RBI for Oakland, which has won six of its last eight games.

Gonzalez (4-2) allowed seven hits, struck out five and walked one.

Luke Scott hit a homer for the Orioles, who have lost nine of their last 11 games.

Jeremy Guthrie (7-12) took the loss after giving up five runs and 11 hits in 4 2/3 innings.
