
DETROIT, June 4 (UPI) -- Jason Bay hit a two-run double in a six-run third inning Thursday, leading Boston to a 6-3 win over Detroit.
The outburst came after Detroit staked starting and losing pitcher Dontrelle Willis to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second and completed a three-game sweep.
J.D. Drew drove in a run with a one-out bases-loaded walk, one of four.
Mike Lowell had two hits and one RBI, while Rocco Baldelli and Kevin Youkilis both had one RBI for the Red Sox, who won four in a row overall.
Winner Tim Wakefield (7-3) gave up three earned runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Closer Jonathan Papelbon earned his 14th save.
Brandon Inge led Detroit with three hits -- one a two-run second-inning double.
Adam Everett had one RBI and Ramon Santiago had two hits for the Tigers, who have lost five of seven.
Willis (1-3) was charged with five earned runs, no hits but five walks in 2 1/3 innings.
