ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 22 (UPI) -- Tampa Bay has placed pitchers Scott Kazmir (right quadriceps strain) and Troy Percival (right shoulder tendinitis) on its 15-day disabled list.

Kazmir, 25, is 4-4 with a 7.69 ERA in nine starts (45 2/3 innings) and Percival, 39, is 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA.

He has compiled a team-high six saves in 14 relief appearances.

The team's exec vice president, Andrew Friedman, told the Saint Petersburg Times that Percival left for his California home on Friday frustrated over his latest arm problems and sounded like there is at least a possibility he could retire.

"He's going to take a few days, go home and spend some time with his family and think through things and figure out where he is with his arm, and we'll go from there," Friedman said.

He added that Percival said his arm bothered him after a relief inning Sunday against the Cleveland Indians.

The Rays recalled infielder Reid Brignac and pitcher Dale Thayer from Triple-A Durham.
