TALLADEGA, Ala., April 26 (UPI) -- Brad Keselowski won the Aaron's 499 Sprint Cup race at Talladega, Ala., Sunday after a spectacular crash that sent Carl Edwards' car sailing into the fence. Keselowski recorded his first Sprint Cup victory.
Edwards' trademark No. 99 Ford touched Keselowski's car, spun, hit Ryan Newman's car, went airborne and slammed into the fence at the Talladega Superspeedway.
Edwards got out of his car, apparently uninjured.
"He blocked and I wasn't going to go below the yellow line," Keselowski said. "I felt bad. I was watching Carl wreck in my mirror, but he put himself in that spot. I hope he's OK."
If Keselowski had gone below the line, NASCAR rules meant he would have been disqualified.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished second. Newman, Marcos Ambrose and Scott Speed were 3-4-5.
Edwards finished 24th.
Kurt Busch, with 1,299 points, overtook Jeff Gordon (1,294) for the top spot in the cup standings.
