Kings dump interim Coach Kenny Natt

SACRAMENTO, April 23 (UPI) -- The Sacramento Kings cleaned house Thursday, firing interim Coach Kenny Natt and all five assistant coaches after a franchise-worst 17-65 record this season.

Natt became interim coach Dec. 15, when Reggie Theus was fired after a 6-18 start.

"It was a tough season," Natt said late in the season.

"You never know in the NBA," said former Wizards Coach Eddie Jordan on the Washington Post Live television show this week, when asked if he was ready to return to coaching.

Analysts have said Jordan is the leading candidate of Sacramento basketball President Geoff Petrie, co-owner Gavin Maloof and fellow executive John Thomas.

Jordan coached the Kings late in the 1996-97 season (going 6-9) and the entire 1997-98 campaign (27-55).

Reports have suggested that other possibilities include former NBA coach and television analyst Mike Fratello, and Jeff Ruland, the former head coach and all-American player at Iona College who played for Washington in the 1980s.
