
WASHINGHTON, D.C., April 18 (UPI) -- Jeremy Hermida hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning and a three-run homer in the 11th Saturday, powering Florida's 9-6 victory over Washington.
The Marlins, who are 10-1 this season, trailed by three runs heading into the top of the ninth. Alfredo Amezaga scored on a single by Ross Gload, and Hermida hammered a pitch over the right-center field wall to make it a 6-6 game.
After a scoreless 10th, Hermida greeted Wilfredo Ledezma with his three-run homer. Hermida finished with three hits and Ronny Paulino had a two-run homer.
Kiko Calero (1-0) pitched the final 1 1/3 innings for Florida to get the win, the team's sixth in a row.
Josh Johnson allowed six runs on six hits in a six-inning start for the Marlins. Austin Kearns hit a grand slam in Washington's five-run first inning against Johnson.
