NHL: New York Rangers 4, Philadelphia 3

PHILADELPHIA, April 12 (UPI) -- Third-period goals by Sean Avery and Blair Betts sent the New York Rangers to a 4-3 win over Philadelphia Sunday in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Rangers will take on the Washington Capitals in the opening round of the playoffs and the Flyers go against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Brandon Dubinsky got the other two goals for New York and Henrik Lundqvist made 28 saves in recording his 38th win this season.

Danny Briere, Jeff Carter and Claude Giroux scored for Philadelphia.

Flyers goalie Martin Biron had 27 saves.
