MIAMI, April 10 (UPI) -- Jorge Cantu singled in Emilio Bonifacio from second with two away in the ninth inning Friday, giving the Florida Marlins a 5-4 victory over the New York Mets.
New York scored the tying run in the top of the ninth, but Florida produced the game-winner in the bottom half of the inning -- a run that was charged to Pedro Feliciano (0-1).
Bonifacio reached on an infield single with one out and, after John Baker struck out, Darren O'Day came into replace Feliciano. Day promptly walked Hanley Ramirez, moving Bonifacio to second. Cantu looked at a strike before delivering the winning hit to left-center.
The victory went to Matt Lindstrom (1-0), even though he gave up a game-tying single to Jeremy Reed in the top of the ninth.
Ramirez and Dan Uggla both hit their second home runs of the season to give Florida an early 2-0 lead.
