Woods given late-day tee time for Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga., April 7 (UPI) -- Four-time Masters champion Tigers Woods was given a late afternoon tee time for Thursday's opening round of the Masters Tournament.

Woods, who will play the first two days with Stewart Cink and Jeev Milka Singh, has been scheduled to begin his 2009 Masters at 1:52 p.m. EDT Thursday. The trio has a 10:45 a.m. EDT tee time for Friday's second round.

Phil Mickelson, rated No. 2 in the world behind Woods, goes off at 10:45 a.m. EDT Thursday and 1:52 p.m. EDT Friday. His playing partners for those rounds are Camilo Villegas and Jim Furyk.

Defending Masters champion Trevor Immelman is in a group with Adam Scott and U.S. Amateur champion Danny Lee. They play Thursday at 1:41 p.m. EDT.

Padraig Harrington, who has won the two most recent major tournaments, tees off at 10:34 a.m. EDT Thursday in a threesome that includes Mike Weir and Ryuji Imada.

The tournament begins at 8 a.m. EDT Thursday when 1991 Masters champion Ian Woosnam opens play with Chez Reavie and Briny Baird.

The 2009 Masters field totals 96 players.
