MLB: LA Dodgers 4, San Diego 1

SAN DIEGO, April 6 (UPI) -- James Loney went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI Monday to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-1 victory over the San Diego Padres.

Hiroki Kuroda (1-0) -- a second-year starter who leads a pitching staff that lost Derek Lowe and Brad Penny in the off-season -- scattered four hits and a run over 5 2/3 innings to earn the win.

Matt Kemp had a solo homer and Andre Ethier had two hits and an RBI.

Jake Peavy (0-1), who came in with a 13-1 record and a 2.32 ERA in 22 lifetime starts against the Dodgers, allowed four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits over seven innings for the Padres. The 2007 Cy Young winner lost to LA for the first time since Sept. 13, 2003.
