Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Right-hander Zack Greinke, who had a break-out season in 2008, signed a four-year contract Monday with Kansas City.
It wasn't reported how much the Royals will pay to keep Greinke around through 2012.
The 25-year-old had a career-best 13 wins with 10 losses last season with a 3.47 earned-run average. He struck out 183 batters in 202 1/3 innings.
The 2002 first-round draft pick has a 34-45 mark with a 4.28 ERA in 144 games (103 starts) for Kansas City over five seasons.
