NBA: New Jersey 93, Atlanta 91 (OT)

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Vince Carter hit a 30-foot shot as the buzzer sounded in overtime Friday, bringing the New Jersey Nets a wild 93-91 win over Atlanta.

Atlanta had a six-game winning streak snapped after leading by as many as 22 points in the first half.

The Nets finally erased their deficit early in the fourth period and Atlanta's Al Horford made a layup with 48 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Atlanta's Mike Bibby tied the game by making two free throws with 22 seconds left in the extra period and, after New Jersey's Devin Harris committed a turnover, Atlanta took a two-point lead on Josh Smith's layup with 12 seconds remaining.

After a time out, New Jersey inbounded the ball with 5 seconds left and it was tipped toward midcourt. Carter frantically chased it down and only had time to get within 30 feet of the basket before launching a desperation three-point shot that went in.

Harris led the Nets with 26 points and Carter had 18. Bibby finished with 22.
