COL BKB: Marquette 69, IUPU Fort Wayne 50

MILWAUKEE, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Lazar Hayward had 19 points and 18 rebounds Saturday to lead 24th-ranked Marquette to a 69-50 victory over Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.

Jerel McNeal had 16 points and Wesley Matthews added 13 with nine rebounds for the Golden Eagles (8-1), who have won three in a row.

David Carson scored 17 points for the Mastodons (4-6), who have lost four of five. Deilvez Yearby led IUPU Fort Wayne in rebounds with 11.

Marquette reeled off the game's first eight points and stretched its lead to 20-6 after eight minutes. The Golden Eagles led by 27 points with 5:36 to go in the game.
