SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Mehmet Okur scored seven points in a 17-0 Utah first-period run Friday and the Jazz went on to crush Toronto 114-87.
The outcome spoiled the coaching debut of Jay Triano, who took over the Raptors on an interim basis this week after Sam Mitchell was fired. Mitchell was dismissed after Toronto lost by 39 points to Denver Tuesday.
Triano is the first Canadian-born coach in NBA history.
Toronto grabbed a 10-4 lead Friday, but the Jazz then held the Raptors scoreless for almost 5 minutes.
Okur finished with 21 points, Paul Millsap had 17 and Matt Harpring 14. Toronto, which has dropped three in a row, was led by 18 points from Chris Bosh.
Utah again played without Carlos Boozer, who has missed nine games with a strained quadriceps.
