NBA: Detroit 106, LA Lakers 95

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Allen Iverson and Rasheed Wallace scored 25 points each Friday and Detroit defeated Los Angeles 106-95, the Lakers' first loss of the season.

The Lakers had been the only unbeaten team remaining in the NBA, but Detroit's defensive effort had LA playing from behind throughout the final three quarters.

The Pistons limited the Lakers to 43 percent shooting from the floor. LA superstar Kobe Bryant scored 29 points, but made only 12 of 31 shots.

The aggressive Pistons went to the foul line 34 times to just 16 for the Lakers.

Tayshaun Prince added 18 for Detroit and Richard Hamilton had 12. The Pistons also claimed the battle of the backboards by a dozen.

Los Angeles won its first seven games of the season, tying its third best start in franchise history. Their best effort to open a campaign was 11 wins in the 1997-98 season.
