Boston tied it with 50 seconds remaining in the third period when Montreal goaltender Carey Price failed to collect the puck behind the net. It bounced back in front and Marc Savard was there to put it in for his second goal of the game.

Price made 31 saves and Tim Thomas had 25 for Boston.

Montreal took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Kovalev and Koivu that came 82 seconds apart.
