MLB: Boston 13, Tampa Bay 5

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- The Boston Red Sox hit six home runs Monday to take a 13-5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays and move into a tie for the AL East lead.

Jacoby Ellsbury, David Ortiz, Mike Lowell, Kevin Youkilis, Jason Bay and Jason Varitek each homered for Boston, which has won four of its last five games. Ortiz finished with four RBI and Youkilis had three.

Daisuke Matsuzaka (17-2) allowed a run on three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in five innings to pick up the win.

Scott Kazmir (11-7), who was unbeaten in his previous five starts, gave up nine runs on six hits and four walks in only three-plus innings for Tampa Bay, which has lost seven of its last 10 games. Justin Ruggiano, Dan Johnson and Akinori Iwamura each homered for the Rays.
