ATLANTA, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Authorities say Atlanta Falcons football star Lawyer Milloy was charged Monday with speeding and driving under the influence.

Milloy, 34, a veteran safety, was arrested and booked into the Gwinett County jail, where he later posted bond and was released, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported, noting the Falcons played at Tampa Bay Sunday, losing 24-9.

Milloy, who could not be reached for comment Monday, played on two Super Bowl teams with the New England Patriots before joining the Falcons. Now in his 13th NFL season, Milloy is in the last year of a contract that pays him $1.7 million and has talked of finishing his career with his hometown team, the Seattle Seahawks, the Journal-Constitution reported.
