NFL: New England 19, New York Jets 10

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Sammy Morris ran for a touchdown and Steve Gostkowski kicked four field goals for New England Sunday in a 19-10 win over Brett Favre and the New York Jets.

Matt Cassel, in his first start at quarterback for the Patriots, was 16-for-23 for 165 yards. Cassel replaced Tom Brady, who was injured in the season opener and is out for the season.

The win was the 12th for the Patriots (2-0) in their last 14 regular season games against the Jets.

Favre passed for 181 yards and a touchdown for New York (1-1), but he also gave up an interception that led to a short touchdown run by the Patriots' Morris.

Thomas Jones carried 17 times for 70 yards for the Jets.
