MLB: St. Louis 4, Chicago Cubs 3

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Cesar Izturis drove in Brendan Ryan with the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday, lifting St. Louis to a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Albert Pujols had tied the game in the seventh inning with a three-run homer for the Cardinals.

Aramis Ramirez was 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Cubs, who have lost eight of their last nine games.

Ryan Dempster started for Chicago and gave up three runs on seven hits. St. Louis starter Kyle Lohse allowed three runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. Chicago's Carlos Marmo (2-4) took the loss and Chris Perez (3-2) pitched a scoreless top of the ninth for the win.
