CRANS MONTANA, Switzerland, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- France's Jean-Francois Lucquin rolled in a 12-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole Sunday to win the European Masters in Switzerland over Rory McIlroy.
The two players entered the playoff after finishing at 13-under-par 271. Both parred the first extra hole and McIlroy missed a par putt before Lucquin knocked in the winner.
Lucquin fired a 4-under 67 to force the playoff with McIlroy, the third-round leader from Northern Ireland, who closed with a 71.
The win was Lucquin's first on the European Tour.
"I have no words to explain what I am feeling," Lucquin said after his victory.
Gary Orr (67), Miguel Angel-Jiminez (67), Julien Lment (68) and Christian Cevaer (68) shared third place.
