Pettersson leads PGA Wyndham by two shots

GREENSBORO, N.C., Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Carl Pettersson of Sweden shot a 4-under 66 Saturday to maintain his lead after three rounds of the PGA's Wyndham Championship.

Pettersson, who matched the PGA Tour's record for lowest opening 36 holes, set the tournament's 54-hole scoring record with his three-day total of 19-under 191. The Swede broke countryman Jesper Parnevik's record of 195 in set in 1999. Pettersson's 191 total was two off the tour record for lowest opening 54-hole score.

Scott McCarron birdie the 18th hole to post a 6-under 64 and move into second place at 17-under-par 193, two strokes off Pettersson's pace.

Briny Baird fired an 8-under 62 to jump into a share of third place at 13-under 197. He was tied with Garrett Willis (69), and Kevin Steelman (67). Scott Sterling (64), John Riegger (67), Kent Jones (65) and Bob Sowards (68) are tied for sixth at 11-under-par 199.
