MLB: Pittsburgh 5, Cincinnati 2

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Jason Michaels and Brandon Moss homered for Pittsburgh Wednesday, helping left-hander Paul Maholm and the Pirates beat Cincinnati 5-2.

Michaels hit a two-run home run, scoring Moss, who had doubled, during a four-run fourth inning. Moss added a solo shot in the eighth.

Maholm (8-7) worked eight innings for the win, giving up two runs and seven hits with five strikeouts.

Cincinnati, which has lost seven of its last eight games, got its runs on solo homers by Corey Patterson and Jay Bruce.

Loser Josh Fogg (2-5) yielded four runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings.
