MLB: Philadelphia 5, Florida 0

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Ryan Howard homered and Kyle Kendrick and two relievers combined for a shutout Wednesday in a 5-0 Philadelphia victory over the Florida Marlins.

Kendrick (10-5) allowed four hits and walked five batters in six innings, pitching out of jams in the second, third and fourth. Chad Durbin followed with two scoreless innings and Ryan Madison tossed a 1-2-3 ninth.

Howard led off the third inning with his 32nd home run of the season and added a double, helping the Phillies win for the eighth time in 10 games.

Loser Anibal Sanchez (1-1) gave up four runs and five hits in five innings.
