MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Joe Mauer hit a go-ahead homer in the seventh inning Friday, lifting the Minnesota Twins to a 4-1 victory over Cleveland.

Nick Blackburn (8-6) allowed a run on six hits over seven innings to get the win, which came his way when the Twins scored three times after he had thrown his last pitch.

Mauer broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run blast off Jeremy Sowers (1-6) and Brendan Harris doubled home a run later in the seventh.

Joe Nathan worked around a ninth-inning hit to earn his 30th save.

Minnesota won its second straight and remained a half game behind division-leading Chicago in the American League Central.

The Indians lost for the seventh time in 10 games.
