
SAN DIEGO, July 13 (UPI) -- Jeff Francoeur drove in two runs and Charlie Morton pitched a solid 5 1/3 innings Saturday night to lead the Atlanta Braves past San Diego 4-1.
Morton (2-2) allowed one run on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks.
With the game tied 1-1 in the sixth, Francoeur got to Padres' starter Greg Maddux (3-8) for a two-run single that put the Braves ahead to stay.
Brent Lillibridge had a home run, a double and two runs scored, while Chipper Jones had three hits and scored a run, and Mark Teixeira also scored for the Braves, who won for the first time in their last three games.
Will Ohman, Blaine Boyer and Mike Gonzalez combined for 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, with Gonzalez picking up his third save.
Maddux (3-8) -- who has gone 12 straight starts without a victory -- gave up three runs on six hits in seven innings with two walks and three strikeouts.
Kevin Kouzmanoff, Chase Headley, Jody Gerut and Maddux collected hits for San Diego, which has lost two of its last three games. Gerut's hit was an RBI double.
