Errani ousts Pennetta at Palermo

PALERMO, Italy, July 12 (UPI) -- Italian Sara Errani knocked top-seeded Flavia Pennetta out of the Palermo Invitational in Italy Saturday, gaining the finals with a straight-set win.

Eranni, the No. 5 seed, beat her countrywoman, 7-5, 6-3, and will go against Ukrainian Mariya Koryttseva for the championship.

The seventh-seeded Koryttseva whipped Anabel Medina Garrigues, who has won the event four times, 6-2, 6-2.
