Longoria AL Player of Week

NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) -- Tampa Bay third baseman Evan Longoria was named Monday as the American League Player of the Week.

Longoria hit .433 with five doubles, three home runs and 10 runs batted in during the week. The 22-year-old rookie also had a .900 slugging percentage and a .438 on-base percentage in the period.

Tampa Bay went into this week with the best record in Major League baseball at 49-32.
