MLB: Texas 5, Seattle 2

ARLINGTON, Texas, May 14 (UPI) -- Gerald Laird drove in a run and scored three times Tuesday, leading the Texas Rangers to a 5-2 decision over the Seattle Mariners.

Kason Gabbard started for the Rangers but didn't get a decision despite giving up just two runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings. Josh Rupe (2-1) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Joaquin Benoit added another scoreless frame, followed by Eddie Guardado, who also didn't give up a run in earning his first save this season.

Ramon Vazquez had two RBIs for the Rangers, who have won seven of their last eight games.

Seattle got RBI hits from Jose Lopez and Kenji Johjima that tied the game at 2-2 but still lost for the 12th time in 14 games. Felix Hernandez (2-4) gave up three runs – two earned – on six hits and five walks through six innings.
