MLB: LA Angels 7, Boston 5

BOSTON, April 24 (UPI) -- Gary Matthews Jr.'s three hits and three RBI Thursday lifted the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to a 7-5 win at Boston.

His two-run single was the big hit in a four-run seventh.

Both Erick Aybar and Mike Napoli scored twice while Aybar had two hits for the Angels, who took two of three games at Fenway Park.

Winner Joe Saunders (4-0) gave up three earned runs and seven hits in six innings with three walks and three strikeouts.

Francisco Rodriguez earned his ninth save by retiring the only batter he faced in the bottom of the ninth.

Boston's David Ortiz blasted a two-run homer in the ninth.

Coco Crisp had two hits and two RBI.

Kevin Cash had an RBI, while Manny Ramirez had a run and three hits for the Red Sox, who have lost two in a row.

The losing pitcher was reliever Manny Delcarmen (0-1).
