ANAHEIM, Calif., April 19 (UPI) -- Ryan Getzlaf put Anaheim ahead to stay in the second period Friday and the Ducks kept their season going with a 5-2 victory over Dallas.
The Stars own a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinal series and will attempt to close out the Ducks Sunday in Dallas.
Game 4 was played in Dallas Thursday and the teams faced the unusual task of flying halfway across the country for a second game in as many nights.
Dallas' offense seemed to have the most spark Friday, producing 42 shots on Jean-Sebastien Giguere. But the Ducks did the most damage, with their power play producing two goals.
A dozen penalties were called in a testy first period, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
With Dallas' Mark Fistric in the penalty box for interference, Getzlaf beat Marty Turco to put the Ducks in front at 11:03 of the second.
After Teemu Selanne also scored on the power play 48 seconds into the third, Mike Ribeiro brought Dallas within a goal at 4:42.
Anaheim regained a two-goal advantage on a wrist shot by Sean O'Donnell with 7:55 remaining and Todd Marchant added an empty-net score with 1:24 to play.
