MIAMI, April 19 (UPI) -- Wes Helms drove in the winning run with an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth and the Florida Marlins came back to beat Washington 6-5.
The Marlins carried a 5-3 lead into the ninth, but the Nationals tied the game in the top half of the inning when Austin Kearns drove in Cristian Guzman and Willie Harris with a two-out single.
Mike Jacobs had three hits and two RBI. Josh Willingham had two hits -- a double and a triple -- and scored twice for Florida, which snapped a two-game losing streak.
Marlins starter Burke Badenhop gave up three runs on five hits in three innings, with five walks and four strikeouts.
Kevin Gregg (2-0) pitched the ninth for Florida, giving up two runs on one hit and one walk, but picking up the win thanks to Helms' game-winning RBI.
Shawn Hill started for Washington, going five innings and giving up four runs on eight hits, with six strikeouts and no walks.
Saul Rivera (1-1) took the loss for the Nationals who lost for the fourth time in their last five games.
