MLB: St. Louis 8, San Fran. 7 (10 inn.)

SAN FRANCISCO, April 12 (UPI) -- Chris Duncan's RBI single in the top of the 10th inning Saturday lifted the St. Louis Cardinals over San Francisco 8-7.

The contest went to extra innings after Rich Aurilia's RBI single and Fred Lewis' RBI double created a 7-7 tie in the bottom of the ninth.

Duncan led St. Louis with three hits and two RBI. He also hit a solo homer in the eighth.

Both Rick Ankiel and Ryan Ludwick hit two-run homers while Albert Pujols had two runs and two hits for the Cardinals, who have won four of their last five games.

The winning pitcher was Jason Isringhausen (1-0). Anthony Reyes earned his first save.

San Francisco got a solo homer from starter Matt Cain and a two-run shot from John Bowker, both in the sixth.

Lewis had three hits and Bowker two for the Giants, who have lost two straight.

The losing pitcher was Erick Threets (0-1).
